Firing Services

Outside Firings

Clay Space offers firings for non-students/members at 8 cents per cubic inch per firing. The first step is to fill out this inquiry form and we will get back to you with any questions or concerns since all firings need to be approved. If you are not using one of our approved clays or glazes, you must submit the materials you are using and receive approval before submitting your work. Once your project and any outside materials are approved, please follow these steps:

1. make an appointment to come in for an initial overview of our space and systems

2. create an account, measure your work at home following the measuring instructions on the outside firing page and pay

3. bring your work in at the scheduled time to submit work for firing. Take a picture of all the pieces you submit for future reference. All work must be signed for identification purposes.

4. Fill out the submission form that accompanies your work, put firing slips into each piece and place them on a tray with chips. Someone will accompany you to place your work on the shelves for the first time.

   Turn around time 3 weeks since we prioritize our students and members. For a Rush Fee of 2x the firing fee, we will guarantee your piece will be fired within 1 week. Submit this form and submit your pieces with a separate RUSH slip. Once your pieces are ready for pick up, come by during business hours of 10am-9pm, using the outside timeline to avoid coming in prematurely. You will find your pieces in the foyer cabinets. We will hold your pieces for 2 months, however, work left longer than necessary will run the risk of getting lost or damaged, so please pick up within a reasonable timeframe.
